Chapter WI-J Monthly Newsletter for July 2010

I hope everyone had a good time that went to Chapter P’s fundraiser.  We got lost in Rhinelander and were the last ones to show up with 15 min. to spare.  The boat ride went about 5 mi. down river, with lots of different wild life to see.

Donna and I spent the rest of the day in St. Germaine and the next day there was a craft show in Minocqua that we went to and came home with a little more then we went up with.

Some of us are going to Wing Ding over Fourth of July and Region E rally Labor Day weekend, so I  ordered good weather for both of them.

SAFTY TIP OF THE MONTH

Ride unimpaired by alcohol or other drugs – Bikes and booze don’t mix.  Government studies show that 46% of riders killed in motorcycle crashes had been drinking.  While under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, a motorcyclist’s necessary skills, including agility, perception and awareness, are decreased dramatically.  In fact, having a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.05% increases the risk of crashing by about 40-times.  So while it is bad enough to try to get behind the wheel of a car while buzzed or drunk, hopping on a machine that requires maximum control and concentration is simply stupid.
