Advance Preparation - Decide on Destination



A.  Check traveI section of library or Internet
1.  Travel activities
2.  Best routes (scenic or direct)

B.  Prepare bike & T-CLOCK
I.  Tires - wear, pressure - right amount?
2.  Cables
3.  Lights
4.   Oil - need changing?
5.  Chasis
6.  Kickstand
7.  Extra items - shock absorbers and chasis
8.  Know your weight limit - 408 lb. For Gold Wing.

C.  Prepare 2-4 weeks in advance:

I.  Arrange for a neighbor to check your home.
2.  Purchase maps and review your travels
3.  Arrange child care and give authority for emergency
4.  Update your will
5.  Find your birth certificate or passport for foreign travel
  
             a.   Know what you can take to other countries; booze, cigarettes, pets, shots.
                b. Insurance card for your motorcycle.

D.  Prepare 0-2 weeks in advance:

I.  Pack your things
                a.  Clothes
  
             b.  Toiletries (small size)
  
             cStandard travel items
  
             d.  Optional items
  
             e.  See attachment for specifics
2.  Prepare your world around you.
  
             a.  Cancel papers
  
             b.  Mow lawn
  
             c.  Contact neighbor about specific duties needed
  
             d.  Clean house including your refrigerator
  
             e.  Buy light timers and set them according to your general routine.

E.  Day of leaving.
I.  Unplug appliances, answering machine, coffee pot, etc.
2.  Lock windows/doors
3.   Double-check everything on your lists.
4.  Check your tire pressure according to the weight
5.  Kiss the kids.

F.   Have a great trip.

PACKING DO’S AND DONT’S

DO’S:

Bring dark jeans
Bring laundry soap in bags
Bring prescription descriptions
Have equal weights in bags
Keep weight light in upper levels
Keep weight light behind axle
Check load frequently


ITEMS FOR EACH:

1 pair jeans
4 shirts
4 undies/socks
I shorts
1 pair tennis shoes or sandals
swim suit
1 sweat shirt
electric jacket liner (optional)
long sleeve cotton shirt
riding gloves

DONT’S:

Bring red or special laundry problems
Bring large boxes or bottles
Bring white or light colored jeans
Bring pillows
Bring 3 jackets - use layers

Exceed gross vehicle weight rating
(GVWR) if possible
